FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Can I bring my own machine?
Yes, feel free to bring your own machine. Some project techniques may not be able to work on your machine, but we can also have one of our machines available to try out techniques. I'm used to dealing with a lot of machines, so I'll try and help you to get to know your own!
Do you repeat class projects?
The short answer is sometimes. A lot of our classes follow current trends to inspire, push and test boundaries of creative sewing. Each class is designed to deliver a professional project for anyone at any skill level. So whether you are beginner or advanced we can show you how to adapt your design further to not just 'follow a pattern' but you are show how to 'think/design/sew' with every project. Our most popular classes we do bring back a few times throughout the year.
Can I bring my own materials?
Should you wish to bring your own fabric, we recommend not deviating from our instructions. Suggested quantities will be displayed on the class/workshop page. Materials respond and react differently in every sewing project, so take care to get similiar fabric to our suggestion. Regardless, we recommend quality over asethetic. There are a lot of cheap colourful prints, but the usability of these fabrics often prove to be disappointing. Check with your local fabric suppliers about the wash/care of the fabric before purchase. Get in touch if you have any further questions!
Do I have to take 'Sewing Machine Basics' class before signing up to another class?
No, you don't have to complete 'Sewing Machine Basics' class beforehand. All our classes are designed to suit ANY skill level. 'Sewing Machine Basics' class will teach you more about how to use more specific functions of a sewing machine, maintenance, thread tensions, stitch types and more information about buying a machine, adapting to different sewing feet, fabrics and threads. Very useful class to take, but you don't need to take it before booking another.
Can I bring food or drink?
Yes, of course! We have a spare fridge available, microwave, hot water, plates/cups/cultery, etc. Especially for longer classes, we'll take a 20-30min break out to eat so feel free to bring a packed lunch!
Your classes are amazing! Can I book a private class?

Are your sewing classes suitable for children?
Most of our classes are for adults only but we do offer specialist children's classes over term time breaks and school holidays. Please check out our class calendar to check current class availability.
I'm not a mum and I don't have kids, can I take a sewing class?
Yes, of course! All are welcome!
The class I'm interested in is sold out. What should I do?
As our classes are limited to 6, they do often sell up very quickly. Best way to know when we release NEW classes is to sign up to our newsletter. Feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org should you wish to be added. Alternatively, we will announce on our Facebook page if we receive any last minute cancellations (www.facebook.com/joytots). If the class proves to be very popular, we may repeat it in the future, but is never guarenteed. The best way to avoid disspointment is by booking early.
